Saw a blog where someone said that coca-cola was good for cleaning the porcelain in the toilet bowl so bought a 2 litre bottle.

Tipped 1 litre into the loo yesterday and didn't flush for 2 hours. Doesn't seem to have made much difference.

So should I pour the remaining litre down the loo just to be sure that it doesn't work or should I drink it? It'll end up there one way or another.

Coke for drinking. Bleach for toilet. Don't get the two confused.
You sure you dont have to do anything aswell as tipping coke down there, maybe it just makes it easier to scrub clean? :-)
I find that if you drink enough of it mixed with rum, you don't care about the state of your loo.
I tried that as well, it didn't work. Perhaps you should drain out all the water in the pan (after flushing first ... ) and then leave the coke in overnight. If it doesn't work it might make the pan go brown. You would be better off buying some Limescale Cleaner and doing it that way. Drink the coke. Or clean your copper coins with it. Or your brass or jewellery. I think that has put me off drinking it now....
It's great for cleaning all sorts of things, including degreasing. It's me that puts it down the loo - it depends what sort of stains you are trying to clear. If you have limescale then you may have to clear than first. Kim and Aggie swear by it.
I think I read the same thing bibble if you leave a nail in a container with coke it will start to dissolve it, I know it cleans copper coins.
Drink it, as you say it will end up in the loo anyway.

in that blog it also said that if you leave chicken bones in coke they will be completely dissolved within a couple of days - better not keep my legs crossed for too long

It probably depends on the Coke. I know that the original Coca Cola in 50s/60s had a reputation for shifting stains that other cleaners couldn't, but the ingredients have probably changed since then.

i feel like buying a car and a driveway just to try that

brown sauce does all sorts of cleaning jobs too, doesn't it?
I may never drink coke again after reading this thread.
Yes bibble - you've been watching Kim and Aggie too! :-)
Question Author
wouldn't watch that if you paid me handsomely - i just remembered putting coins in brown sauce in order to clean them and that was from kids tv about 40 years ago
It's the vinegar in the brown sauce that does the cleaning. Vinegar is a great steriliser.
Question Author
that's taken all the fun out of it, sauce is so much messier than vinegar
