Whats a good paint to paint over a water stained ceiling?

Start with two coats an oil-based undercoat on the stained area (the sort you use under gloss paint), then cover this with whatever you like!

You can get a product called "Stain Stop" from places like B&Q, in aerosol cans. Spray this over the stain before painting - 2 light coats at half hour intervals. Make sure the source of the stain is sorted first though"
