Domestic boiler problem

My boiler's main gas jets wont light unless i briefly cover the flue exhaust - why is this?

Sounds like the flue draft is too strong. Call a registered gas fitter to mend it, don't do it yourself. Many deaths each year caused by poorly maintained gas appliances giving off deadly fumes.
