Yes, deadhead regularly & a liquid feed about every 3 weeks will help keep them healthy too.
yes, cos if you don't they'll go to seed and then die off. By dead heading any annuals you're forcing them to flower to produce seeds. If you know there's going to be a frost, cover them overnight as sometimes they can take a while to stand up again!!
