how deep do you lay weed control fabric. dont want it too close to the top as worried about piercing with a spade when digging in compost

we have a real problem with dandelions in our garden, i was wondering if the new turf we have planned would still take if we laid weed control then covered with topsoil then the turf

I have cleared a substantial area of my garden prior to putting down gravel. I also have half a dozen rolls of spare roofing felt, can I use these instead of the proper weed suppressant membrane ?

weed control over winter!

Can anyone suggest something to cover a large area of my garden that will kill the weeds over winter. We have dug the area over 24ft x 24ft and we are still in the middle of sieving through the masses...
