The best way I have found is to have a salad. I guarantee, I will find at least half a dozen that have escaped the washing. Just keep eating salads!

Alternatively pick them off and dispose of them near a neighbour you don't like very much! (I wondered where all ours came from!)
I forgot to mention, I saw the better half this afternoon chasing cabbage whites and shouting "shoo - get off my cabbages" or words to that effect.

The didn't seem to notice........
What's worse than finding a caterpillar in your salad?
Answer :- finding half a caterpillar in your salad (-:
I agree with Androcles- I do the same with snails- throw them in to next door's garden or if I find the in the front garden throw them in to the middle of the road and they either get crushed or cook in the heat.
Slugs-? Nothing greater than sprinkling on a bit of salt and watching them 'sizzle'
Sensibly (lol)if you encourage wildlife then they will nosh on the caterpillars and other nasties. Please check which carerpillars you are destroying as some butterflies are becoming rare!

Did your better half check they were local caterpillars - maybe they didn't understand the accent :) I'll try speaking loudly and slowly to see if that helps :)

Thanks for the help.
