yellow laurels?

my daughter planted some common laurels a few weeks ago ,but they are turning yellow and the leaves are falling off.any ideas folks??

I would think they have dried out. They need a lot of water especially when trying to establish them during this hot weather.
At this time of year Laurels lose some of last years leaves at the point on branches where new shoots push through. So if it's only a few leaves here or there just let them fall and as Hawkwalk pointed out - keep them watered for a least the first few weeks while the roots establish themselves.
