Water heating

I currently have two independent large hot water tanks in my house heated by over night cheap electricity.  I would like to move to one tank but the reduction in the amount of water available would be unsatisfactory.  Is there any alternative, other than immersion heater, that could provide "on tap" hot water without restriction?  The house is heated by gas warm air.

Thanks

You could consider a gas multi-point waterheater. They give hot water on demand and are economical.
