Hi

I have recently layed out some small stones over my drive. I've noticed that at this time of the year, the ground below has become damp and tread marks and wearing into the surface. I have been told you can buy some thick metal mesh that you lay into the stones so you can't see it. This is wide enough for the wheels and stops any sinkage. Only probably is, i've tried everywhere and can't find the stuff. Does anyone know of this product, or where I can get some? Thanks

Try Jacksons fencing. Toodle pip
You could use thick guage plastic mesh - in engineering terms it's called a geotextile. It comes in a roll and if you lay it down on the ground you can lay stones over the top. It's widely used on mountain footpaths for example to stabilise wet or boggy ground. Don't know where you buy it though - but a search on the net should be easy.
Gravelpave is the product you need. It's a flexible grid system which comes on a roll 20m x 1m and has a non -woven geotextile bonded to the underside. Its cell structure allows you to contain angular gravel which maintains a level surface and offers support when vehicles are driven over it.
