Hello!
I want to ask you about growing seeds as I have been trying to do so for almost a year! First of all, I have heard that if I sow a lemon seed, even if it grows enough, it will never give lemons. Is that true?? Also, I have tried to sow a peach seed, a cherry seed and an apricot seed but nothing happened... and I 've been waiting for adout six months.! Any ideas? What may have gone wrong?? email: [email protected]

yes, probably true about the lemons. Most fruit trees are hybrids and will not produce fruit from seed. Other issues are breaking dormancy which is harder than just sowing a lettuce seed. Fruit trees from seed may also take many years to produce fruit, 10-15 years in some cases so not worth trying.

You can buy a small two year old grafted tree for 5 which will fruit next year.

We have successfully grown lemon & grapefruit from pips, both fruited but it took around 5 years.Eventually we lost them in a very cold spell when the conservatory just got too cold.
Really not worth the time and effort, better to buy from a shop.

Thank you very much for your answers! I like to sow and grow seeds just for fun. I want to see how a plant can grow and survive... I don't intend or expect to have my own trees one day!! I know this is very difficult! I just like experiments!!
