Cyclamens etc

I'm about to do my winter window boxes. To keep the pansies & cyclamens flowering all through winter is it worth fertilising every couple of weeks like I do the summer boxes? I'm asking this as I read a long time ago that fertiliser doesn't work under a certain temperature. Just like to know what other ABers do.

I would reduce feeding to about once a month during the winter as everything grows so much slower. If you liquid feed then that will work. Some granular feeds such as Osmocote do not work well below a certain temperature.

Also regular dead heading and cleaning will encourage more flowers and keep the plants looking healthy.

Cyclamen that you can buy in flower now are not frost hardy so protect these if the temperatures get very low.
