We have a British Gas alarm & my mum and dad have just come in to our house and put the wrong code in. Now the alarm says that we require an engineer reset code? Does anybody know how we can get this without getting an engineer out which costs 100?

Usually you can phone the monitoring company who will provide the code over the phone.
If not get the panel taken out and get an alarm installer to fit a new one, the cost of keeping it maintained for 5 years will cover the cost of a new alarm, british gas charge a small fortune.

I fit a basic decent alarm for 300 and that is guaranteed for 1 year and they only need a new battery every 4 years and servicing the owner can do, just make sure all the PIR sensors work by setting the alarm and walking around the house listening to the remote keypad bleep, there you go job done and serviced for another year....
hi ive noticed you post this a while ago but i have the same alarm system and the way in which to deactivate it and get it to allow you to arm the system is if you type in *84337## and that should allow you to arm the system and use it as normal
the manuals are on
