i have used one ( a quite expensive one!) before, and found that I had to constantly empty it. ( every few seconds ) it did clean the leaves and sludge from the bottom but I was getting a bit fed up with the time it took and became very selective! This was quite a large pond 6000 gals and you may get a more satisfying result on smaller ponds. There was nothing wrong with the 'hoover' but i now try to prevent the leaves etc gathering beforehand. I have only used the cleaner two or three times in the past 3 years.
