Dyson DC07. Don't be tricked into thinking the more expensive 'pet' versions are better. Ours almost sucks the carpets off the floor and has plenty tools to deal with both our cats and dogs moultings.

cheers Zac but we gave up on Dysons a few yrs back, they just neva picked up as gud as we thought,so we then bought a cheap £45 hoover and found that did the job better than the dyson, but it died on us today and unfortunately they dont make the same model anymore,so we are gonna stick to the same price tag as we know there are hoovers out there that can do a brilliant job for that price, its just finding one, thanx for ya advice anyway much its appreciated!

I have tried every make. But now has turned towards Henry, They are good and longer lasting. My wife really liked that as I bought as her birthday present.....................How romantic.

we have the same one as tiggerblue - it's excellent. I wouldn't say it was cheap but it's well worth the money..you get what you pay for...

I had a Labrador cross that wouldn't let anything that was possibly edible hit the floor.

Would that help you?

However the dog hairs...???

I personally hate Dysons, I think they are overated, cumbersome and difficult to manoeuvre.

I would highly reccommend the Miele vacuum cleaner. It has great suction, which can be decreased and increased and sucks dusts up from right against skirtings. It's easy to carry and quiet too.

Cheap is not always best, they always lose suction after about 10 uses. The basic Miele costs about £100.

Dyson. No contest.

If it's not sucking properly open up all the access points to see if there is something stuck in there (usually a little toy mouse for the cat)
They are designed well so that checking inside is easy.

I had a dyson once, most expensive hoover I've had and a complete load of rubbish! I've recently bought a Sebo from M&S for £130.00. I've 2 border collies and it's great for getting all the hairs out of carpets and upholstery.

I'm with the Dyson team on this one. I bought a DC01 when they first came out about twelve years ago, and it's still going strong! I used to have cockatiels and was forever having to vacuum the spillages from their cage. I'd tried many different brands of vacuum cleaner before getting a Dyson, and imho none could compare with its performance.

I dare say there probably are more powerful (and expensive) machines available now, but I'm happy with my Dyson.

I got this- Argos's own. REALLY good! In fact mine was £54 so I think this is the next version up. Look for the cheaper one!
