I used Dr Beckman 'Rescue' oven spray. It definitely brought off layers of burnt on grease. Applied twice and thought it would do, I think a third go would of shifted it all.
Lakeland Ltd do one and its not at all smelly and absolutely brilliant! Its called Ovenmate and is 7.99.
Fairy Power Spray is also excellent and not too pongy or fumey.
Cheap and cheerful way IF you have one and IF you have time. I have one one those steam wallpaper strippers with the hose and faceplate. Just using the hose, and paper towels to wipe, I steam cleaned mine. Come up nice.
POSTDOG, brilliant idea !
Postdog....You 've come-up with a great idea. I have a steam cleaner which, whilst i'm disapointed with it's performance on upholstery, it could be my answer to cleaning the oven......Ron
apparrently Tesco have an oven cleaner that comes in a box... there is a bag in it to put the shelves in and some stuff to clean the oven... my sister-in-law was so impressed that she's cleaned the oven about 3 times since she discovered it... don't know what it's called sorry don't clean my oven!!!
I cant think of the name either but thats what I was told too. It isnt tesco own but you can get it in Tesco

dont worry too much about all the bumf they put on the side of the oven cleaning bottles, they have to cover their own arses in case you do something stupid and drink it. its only common sense to wear marigolds and a mask (from any diy store) when handling chemicals in a confined space, just open all the windows and doors and you will be fine.
i spent 17 yrs working in a chemicals laboratory with all sorts of nasty substances and it never did me any harm, in any case having 2 heads is an advantage! (joke, dont panic)
your other alternative is to look in the yellow pages as theres a franchise about where they come out and clean your oven for you top to bottom, why do it yourself when you can pay someone else a few quid to do the dirty work!
i work for tesco worst luck and have not seen any tesco own oven cleaner with the bags you put your grill racks in?? if you want summint that really works try oven pride about 3.96 and yes it does really work its amazing !! tesco stock it
i agree. oven pride is fantastic. I have tried everything with varying results but oven pride is by far the best. and it doesn't choke you with fumes! I don't bother with the bags I just coat everything using a half inch paintbrush.Again don't worry too much about the warnings. as long as your sensible you will be OK.
