I live in the Carlisle/Border area and central-heating and hot water are fuelled by bottled LPG gas. The cost is astronomical ! Am contemplating electric boiler to run central-heating, but will keep the gas for the cooker. I would also like to replace the mains shower with an electric one. Does this sound feasible, and, if so,does anyone know of a good, reliable tradesman in my area. Have come up with plenty of names via the web but would prefer to get someone who has been recommended. Many thanks.

Hi Liz,

I just moved from carlisle to whitehaven, we have rented our house in carlisle (broadoaks grange, botcherby) the boiler is on mains gas and as its a combi i installed an elctric shower myself, (belt and braces incase of boiler failure) I managed from B&Q. to do this. there are a lot of plumbers available in the Carlisle area, but just look for the Corgi registered sign, if they dispay it check with corgi to ensure they are registered then you should have no problem.

As I am not quallified to touch gas appliances i used british gas according to the homecare plan to sort the boiler, I guess this does not fully answer your question but i hope another reader can,
