I have some sunflowers which are growing well. They each have one large flower bud at the top and several smaller buds lower down on the stems. Should I pinch out these side buds or leave them to flower? In other words, would pinching out the side buds encourage a more spectacular main flower?

Hi Steve, If your main aim is to grow more spectacular main flowers, then I'd say yes remove the lower side blooms as they appear and most of the energy will be directed into main top flowers.
