The boundary fence owned by my neighbour was blown down by high winds recently. This fence was supporting my backyard as it is some 0.5m higher then my neighbour's. The neighbour is asking me to support my backyard before he puts erects the fence.

Can you please advise whether I should support my land or should the neighbour support it with his fence ?

I would have thought onus is on you to support your own back yard. You need something to retain it and I dont see why it should be his fence?
morally you should support your own land - it is yours - why should your neighbour be inconveinienced by you. He will put his fence on his own land

Yes you may both be right if it were a new situation but do not forget that the former fence was supporting the ground before it was blown over.
so? consider yourself lucky that you havent had to do anything about it beforehand!
consider this: what if your neighbour wanted a lattice type fence put up.. he is perfectly entitled to decide what sort of fence he wants, but wouldnt b e able to have what he wanted because of you blooming land. I really think he is perfectly entitled to expect you to support your own land!
fences are not really designed to support anything, so he may not want to pay extra to have it put deeper and secured better if the problem is not his - why should he?
the extra weight of your land may actually have contributed to the fact that it fell down, so be glad he is not blaming your land.

i don't understand how it can be ''his'' fence either, surely if your land 'needs' a fence to keep it in place, the fence may be your responsibilty!
the way it faces is irrelevant - your deeds will show who is responsible for the fence.
Can i clean (with a jetwash - water only) the concrete plinth of my neighbours fence?
