Vinegar is excellent for neutralising smells. Do a test patch first.
Borax, available from Boots, is also good for removing smells. Sprinkle on offending area, leave for a bit, then vacuum.
'Keep it Clean lemon' is a dedorant spray for pet smells. It removed the smell from a little 'surprise' our puppy left on the carpet. It is available from Asda, and probably all the other supermarkets.
Good luck.
The vinegar smell vanishes after a short time!
Bicarb the baby
Get replacement carpet
or is that the wrong way round ?
