Please can anyone suggest an alarm that doesn't do this? We have a British gas alarm - when the battery runs out, it beeps every minute and you can't get into it to take the battery out - very good - especially at 2am and it's in our bedroom! All I want is the same sort of alarm but one where you can replace the battery. Any thoughts?

How else will you know the battery is flat ?
Would it not be better to change the battery regulary?
I would thiink you have the alarm for a reason and the bleep only tells you that if the battery runs down any more it will not function.
Ei Electronics Model Ei220EN. Plugs into a 13A socket, so has no battery. Similar size to a smaoke alarm (this firm also makes smoke alarms. Homebase sell it for about 30, but you may find it cheaper.

thanks, woodchopper - but you can't change the battery - it's sealed! It had reached the end of its detection life 92 months early so we weren't ready!) and I just wanted something you could turn off temporarily.

Cheers, buildersmate - just what I needed to know! Will be off to the shops!
Would builersmate answer another question please. My boiler and gas fire are flued to outside but the gas engineer says I should still have one of these alarms. I asked several people and have had yes and no's. I change my smoke alarm batteries every year, but not sure about if I should get one you suggest. Its very helpful to read answers to a lot of questions on answer bank.
Thank you in anticipation.
Sorry spelt buildersmate wrong.
