Does Polytex contain any asbestos?

Years ago we used a product from Polycell called Polytex on a ceiling to get an 'Artex -like' finish.We now want to remove it-can anyone tell me if this product contains any asbestos?Grateful for any replies. margrio

Asbestos was used in artex type finishes until the early 1980's as a binding agent. It shouldn't have been used since, unless old stocks were being used up! I would suggest writing to the manufacturer, and asking. If asbestos was present, then under no circumstances should it be disturbed, for instance by sanding, and you could plaster skim over the top of it.
To answer your question, Margrio, Polytex does not contain asbestos. You could think of it just like Polyfilla. No harmful ingredients.
