Central Heating

We have a combi boiler and heating, and we would like to know the best way to run it. Do we leave it on low all the time or do we use the timer twice a day. we have been useing the timer and the gas bill has gone up so much, my summer was as big as my last winter and we had no heating on. Can someone help me please.

I just got mine last september and I to was shocked by the size of my bill. All the hype about saving money with a combi boiler. I started off badly in the summer then found the summer/winter button my bill for 3 months �35. I wish I knew the answer to your question, everybody gives different advice.

I`ve always been told to leave the boiler on max and control the temp of the room with the valves on the rads. Don`t know if this is correct but what I have found is when I do it the other way and turn the temp down on the boiler the thing starts up nearly every 30 seconds or so

We run ours for about half an hour at night and in the morning - I was told NOT to turn the boiler control up to ful - cos the boiler will last longer if you keep it at about 3/4 full
As for the rest of the time - why would you want to spend money heating the house when you are not there ?
And use the thermostat to ensure that the house temperature stays at about 20degrees - we spend �20 per month (averaged over the year) on hot water and heating .....
