I went to kew Gardens the other day. In one of th main flower beds they had the most fabulous purple plant. It's large, spiky, and was brilliant deep purple. Coyuld not find anyone to ask the name. Any ideas?

It could be a cordylie or maybe a Phormium purpereum.

Sorry rabbits, I only just noticed that I missed the 'N' out of cordyline yesterday (a bit light fingered on the keypad) There are several varieties that are purple ie 'Torbay red' and 'Dark star' to name but two.
