Yes, you can put them back in their garden. Yes, you are responsible for getting rid of them if you ask them and they dont want them.

You are also entitled to remove any branch overhanging your garden if it is encroaching on your garden, which again you can return to them.

In the interests of a happy neighbourhood I strongly recommend that you dont cut off a branch or lob conkers over the wall without talking to your neighbours first.

And be careful that the tree is not protected or you are in a conservation area.

Best just to clear them away yourself.
Why don't you just stick em in an empty ice cream tub and leave them outside your gate for the local kids? Make it a nice happening, no need to fall out with your neighbours over it and the kids will think you are a God:)
I 100% agree with Nox. My 8 year old an I have been combing the neighbourhood for conkers as they all play conkers at school.
Last year 2 enterprising year 6 girls collected them, threaded them and sold them for 10p to the other school children and the money went to the local children's home.
Oh yes I agree too! life's too short to fall out about such things, give them to the children or if you don't want to do this put them on the compost heap, they'll surely rot down and you can use the compost on your garden in the Spring
