First of all thank you to everyone who answered my previous question re: a manhole in a bedroom.
Would anyone have any idea what it would cost to have a gas fire installed. The gas point thingy is there beside the fireplace, but I am told I would have to have a flue lining or somesuch thing. If it costs too much I shall go for an electric fire.

Hi glenbar,
First af all if your chinmey is sound then it wont need to be lined, I have only had to install a flue liner in maybe a handfull of installations in twenty odd years.
You may need to get it swept first, that costs about 45.
The installation price will depend upon what type of fire your are buying & if you have a standard builders opening or not. My charges for a fire installation start from around 85 upto aprox 150. Depending on how much preperation work and the type of fire involved. Hope this helps you out . Gasman.
Sorry, haven't got an answer, but just pleased to see someone talks the same language as me. "the gas point thingy" - my sort of description.
