Calling all heating experts!!! I have a similar problem to Miss-read in that my I have hot water but no heating. The boiler is firing up ok, the programmer is on CH & HW, the room stat is turned up but no heat to radiators!! I've bled the rad's and water came out so no air in the system. I have an old floor standing boiler & old room stat. When turn the room stat, it clicks but the boiler doesn't fire up - could that indicate a problem with the room stat? or something else? Help!!!

yes its sound like you have a problem with the room stat .have you got a mid position valve if so it sounds like it is not operating correctly. you might also want to check that the pump is running.
I had a similar problem (couldn't turn the CH off) and it was my motorised valve, which is supposed to divert the hot water to the rads when you switch the CH on. Apparently it had stuck and this is common.
I was told you can operate the valve manually. It is a little silver box in the airing cupboard and has a small lever sticking out of it. Push this lever into the other position and you may find the heating works.
As above , most likley things are the motorised valve or the pump.
