are they the aluminium/metal ones? if so, take them down, take in the garden, hose them off?

I don't have venetians, but have always wanted some.
take them down spray flash allover them then hose down with garden hose or shower
Mimififi's got it - that's how we clean ours: lay them over the outdoor chairs, dampen with hose, sponge over with plain old dishsoap, rinse thoroughly with hose, turn over and repeat. Do it early on a sunny day and they'll be dry before dinner. Works like a charm.
