We only have a rubbish collection every other week now from the Council, since the introduction of wheelie bins. In this warm weather, I have been getting a breakout of maggots in the black plastic sacks that I put out. Even when double wrapped, they somehow seem to get outside and under the bag. I have tried pouring boiling water over them, salt and also bleach, but they appear to survive anything except stamping on them. Any ideas?
Thanks

As Sherlock Holmes would say - 'this looks like a two pipe problem'
The only thing I can think of is add something smelly to your bins ie bin freshner, pine or shake n' vac and keep them tightly lidded until just before collection time.
Secondly, have a ruck at the council!! Good Luck T bird+
Try Jeyes fluid it is very potent and it works. Read the Label on the container !!
Anything at all that might attract maggots, flies etc - raw meat scraps is the biggest culprit - wrap securely in tin foil.

Wrap your rubbish in small amounts in tightly tied used supermarket carrier bags. If possible, use two carrier bags.

If you are throwing used cooking fat out, pour it into an empty jar (coffee jars are good) and screw the lid on tightly. As long as your kitchen is cool you can keep adding to it and throw it away once a fortnight.

That's just about all you can do.
