Juniper Berries, Caraway Seeds, Fennel Seeds are all found within the British Isles are could be considered spices as oppoed to herbs are they do nor comprise the grren non-woody part of a plant but are aromatic plant parts used in cooking.
Posh spice and Baby Spice?
Saffron Walden got it's name from the saffron that was grown there.... don't know if the saffron crocus is a native plant though - probably brought over by the Romans.
