Why do clothes washed but not dried properly smell of BO

I don't know for sure, but I would assume it is because the bacteria which caused bad smells breeds faster in a damp environment than a dry one.

I wouldn't have said they smell of BO, I would say more of a musty smell.

I found this out when I'd accidentally left some washing in the machine & went away for a couple of days - not nice!

The washing machine may have fungal traces in it. To reduce or eliminate this run the hottest cycle with the machine empty except for some detergent. there are also proprietary cleaning materials available for good measure.

Thankfully that's only happened to me once Karl - I always make sure the washing machine's empty if I'm going anywhere for more than half a day!
