Can you grow Spider Plants outside? I want to try and grow them in baskets under my carport. What does anybody think?

I have put them outside for the summer, and brought them in again at the first sign of cold and they have been fine. I think it would work OK under a carport, as I think they don't like direct sunlight for too long. Best of luck.

thanks sixpence i will give it a go.My indoor plants are producing offspring like crazy so thought it would be a good idea
You've inspired me now, carnkie. I'm off to pot up some of my "babies"
Just a word to reassure you, local parks depts often use them as 'dot plants' as part of summer bedding displays and also as a centre piece in hanging baskets. Be sure to harden them off first before planting out and they should be fine,
