How do you stop tulips drooping?

Can anyone tell me how to stop cut tulips from drooping when in a vase of water. Thanks.

As soon as possible after purchasing or picking, take a pin and push through at the top of the stem just under the petals then place in water.
Do the pin thing as suggested above, but most of all keep them cool - they really don't like being warm.
tulips also grow when in water after they have been cut which tends to assist with the flop thing as they get taller than when first arranged, you have to keep shortening them
I always put a two pence piece in the bottom of the vase before the water and - of course - the tulips. Really seems to help stop them from flopping.
