One of the storage heaters in my home has spontaneously stopped working. Have checked the fuses and they're fine so next step is phoning the electrician. Or is it? Are there any other easy things that could have gone wrong and that are relatively easy to fix myself?

Storage heaters usually have a number of heating elements so a complete failure is likely to be supply or switch gear check, for an overheat trip to reset or that it has not been inadvertantly switched off, very common! Some are connected to a switched fused spur so replace the 13 amp fuse if so. The supply will be on it's own fuse board so check the trips are on or the fuses are ok. Swap them around if not sure to see if it makes that one work overnight.
