I have a hotpoint first edition larder fridge, under worktop (with matching freezer) I think the thermastat has gone, it is not working, is it worth getting it mended, as theyare about 7 year old? Thanks in advance

There isn't too much electrical that goes wrong with fridges other than the thermostat. They are easy to change if you are reasonable at simple DIY and cost probably between �5 - �10. Fridges can go on for years and years. The problem with getting a man in to do it is the labour charge. Can't see you getting any change from �50 for the job. You are going to have to balance that against the cost of a brand new fridge.
