privet hedge

The water board have taken a lump approx 15% out of my front boundary privety hedge that is 50 years old they have told me it will recover after on season is this true please advise.The hedge is 4 ft tall

Not sure what you mean by lump, is it gone completely? If so I doubt if it will regrow that quick. Was it work for you that you knew would result in this or was it unexpected, if so they should probably pay to replant it.

Aint that funny the water board hacked a chunk out of my privet too, to get at the main,luckely a friend gave me a few small seedlings which i've planted in the gap.


privet seems to grow up pretty fast in hieght but tends to take a few years of pruning to get good n' thick, mines gone a bit leggy, as its fairly shaded.


In short, i dont think you can expect instant results.
