I need a new vacuum cleaner and might try looking for one in the sales. Any recommendations?

Last year I read all the reviews and settled on a pull along Hoover, but it has no suction and gives me back ache. Does anyone use a cleaner that works a treat on carpet?

Aww thanks Minty, it looks just like my old Dyson which gave up the ghost last year. I like the adjustable height option, as I'm tall.

And the cordless Dyson is certainly an attractive option. Does it last long enough to get round an average house and where does the muck go? Which model do you use Tonyv?
Maydup will give you at least 45 minutes cleaning time. Dust goes into a small bin that you can just empty.
I had the Dyson Pet...but thought it was rubbish..gave it away and got the vax which I find to be much better..unless I had a duff one !

Liking it Tony. The big uprights suit me better than the pull alongs, but they are fiddly when you want to use the hose and attachmnets, where as these Dyson lightweights look small enough to deal with the edges anyway by the looks of things.
Another vote for Dyson cordless....brilliant performance. ALL Dyson cordless vacs are Which ? Best Buys...100% strike record.
I'm a Dyson convert .
I`ve got the Dyson V8 Absolute. I love it and can't believe how much dust it picks up. The instructions say it lasts for 25 mins on normal suction and 5 mins on super suction. It's so quick and easy to use that you could vacuum a whole house in that time.
Agree with the Vax votes, partner has Dysons and they aren't a patch on Vax, but better than all the rest imho is my Sebo, they're amazing (I have five dogs and 2 cats plus mud galore) and it eats anything you throw at it.
Dyson will also replace anything that goes wrong. e.g. brushes my MIL cleaner ruined brush but within the guarantee period and Dyson replaced it
I love our Dyson, and their after sales service is exceptional.
I wouldn't go back to a corded vacuum if you paid me.
kvalidir's comment re Vax vs Dyson is interesting....Which? (having actually tested all the vacs against each other) have a few Vax "Don't Buys" ie they're so bad, they warn you off buying them!
Had a vax, not impressive. Had dyson, less impressive.
We now have wire free one. They all suck.
Had 3 dysons. Went for a Vax. Now got a dyson again.

Which wire free sucker is that David Small?
Bought wireless vax no complaints does its job
