Learned some very sad news yesterday, our friend Beejay passed away some time ago, used to pop in daily to GMEB ... do not know any details , thoughts and condolences go to his family...

Mine too. A good man. I wanted to take Vera to NI as the last quarter of Ireland for her to see. Id deliberately left Ulster until last,spend more time there and introduce her to friends, including BJ, and show her places I was during the troubles. Her cancer stopped it.

A good man all round oz. He was involved in many social and official organisations. He will be sorely missed.

he had planned to do Edinburgh and threatened to ply me with much alcohol !! naughty man... such a shame it wont happen now...

suspect it was sudden as he never talked of feeling ill or being unwell, his last holiday he visited Auschwitz..posted the pics here... last on 28th may '17.. if I learn any more will let you know..

I visited Bergen Belsen in Germany. Several times. There is pub nearby, I always went there when I'd finished showing whomever it was around, this was in army days. The barman got to know me and as soon as he saw me come in he pulled a litre stein and just put it in front of me. His father and mother died in there.

Oh that is sad, he'd been missing from the Saturday nonsense for quite a little while, then he popped back in for a couple of weeks, then off again, but no mention of anything amiss......

Like many others here, he will be missed....bye, bj xx
