Headdress Stiffening

For a show I have to make a headdress something like an oversized turban, on a very stiff base. I have tried buckram and a few other things but they are not stiff enough. I need to use something which I can staple and sew, but which will form a rigid shape. Something around the shape of a flower-pot would do, but I obviously can't stitch or staple a flowerpot. Any ideas please ?

Yes plastic needlepoint canvass works like a charm. you can sew it, staple it, cover it whatever you need to do :)
