Yes. Fold it neatly and put it in a cupboard. The flipping things are impossible to keep on
Velcro and fabric glue...... glue one side of the velcro to the back of the sofa and stitch the other part of the velcro to the throw...attack...Does not need to be large amounts of it...detaches easily for washing!
Nails if you are not gonna use again

Buy them way bigger than you think you'll need.
We have one hanging over the back of the settee and it tucks into where the back meets the seat and we have another one that covers the seat and arms, that hangs over the front, that tucks into the same place as the other one.
They never ride up, as they have plenty of overhang on one end and they're tucked in at the other end :)
Apart from hc4361's hilarious answer, I use a gripper mat under the throw.
Cut the length you need and put across the top of the sofa back and then put the sofa throw over the top with a overhang at the back to stop it riding up.

Works for me anyway - worth a try.
If the grip mate doesn't work, use it in the boot of your car to stop items sliding about in the boot.
Yes...take it off ! Its the only way.
