Any tips? My dishwasher always seems manky despite plates etc being scraped.

Cups are always stained with tannin too.

Bosch machine and Finish tablets.

I get on better with Fairy tablets - the Finish ones were awful.
Is the salt kept topped up?
A family friend, who repairs white goods for a living, claims it's worth using dishwasher cleaner every 3 months or so.
We alternate our detergent between Fairy and Finish.

Hmmm, as a CostCo customer I have in excess of 100 Finish tablets!!!!

Salt and rinse aid maintained according to the demands of the bleeping machine.
I don't use tablets. I use seperate powder, rinse aid and salt. I clean out the gubbins every so often.
I think tannin has to be scrubbed out by hand, possibly with a bit of bleach.

My old dishwasher didn't leave tannin stains though :-\

Will give Fairy a go despite my hundred weight of Finish lying around.
I use finish and find its fine. I rinse out the filter about once a week in hot water and run a cleaner through it around monthly.....got to say my last dishwasher was a Bosch and it was dreadful.
Check the nozzles in the rotary arms are all clear, and that you are not loading so high that they can't spin freely.

My nozzles are spotless and twirl magnificently!
I have a Bosch and use Tesco own brand tablets. No mankies and no tannin stains even on the white work mug that oh only brings home once a week.
I use one of the blue cleaner thingies every now and again.
Question Author
Definitely going to experiment with tabs whilst twirling my nozzles.
You need an old toothbrush....
//My dishwasher always seems manky despite plates etc being scraped.//

Need to whip Mr Eccles harder....... ;)
Question Author
I am NOT taking a toothbrush to my nozzles!!!!

Mr Cake frequently gets whipped into next week ;-)
How long a cycle do you run? I was thrilled when we upgraded our 'came with the kitchen' one to an 'up with the Jones' Bosch but I don't find it anywhere near as good. My cups also come out with tannin stains whatever tablet I use. Only the 2 1/2 hour heavy cycle gets them clean. Cups came out like new after 40 mins in my old one.
Prudie, I found the same. I have got a hoover one now and its much better than the Bosch was.
Well Eccles, the symptoms match very much with the water not spraying around properly. If your nozzles are clear, and the rotary arms spin freely then there may be a blockage. Try removing the rotary arms and make sure they are not hinged up. My Mum's was partly blocked by little bits of plastic.
Autocorrect is annoying.
Gunged up, not hinged.

Thanks Hopkirk. I've done what I can to clean the rotar arms, unfortunately they cannot be opened up for thorough cleaning. I always make sure they have a clear spin and are not blocked by any obstruction.

Vinegar and soda crystals seems to have perked it up, I just need to keep on top of it.

Just envious of my more slovenly friends who seem to have gleaming dishwashers :-(
aldis all in one tablets are great ,and every month or so give it a clean with dishwash cleaner .oh yes I also put salt in the dispenser x
