£540, I suppose it would pay for itself in time. Does 30 sq mt seem about right for the 'footprint' of an average semi?

I was thinking the 37 cm would fit between the joists without any cutting and that'd make the job a bit easier.

370mm width is designed to fit between joists at 400mm centres.
Or even in older houses where they will be at 16" centres

Do you have any insulation in there at the moment?

Sorry, I couldn't get back before now. It's 3 bedrooms but the smallest is only about 6x6, more a boxroom.
I was putting some junk into the loft(should have thrown it out) and saw there were the back of slates above my head and the top of the ceiling plaster between the joists under my feet.
There's not a piece of insulation and the bedrooms are very cold in Winter.

As far as I know the minimum recommended thickness is 270mm, so the rolls are below that at 200mm.

Also, if you store stuff in your loft you would tend to squash your insulation making it far less efficient.

I went through all this a couple of years ago and it's certainly made my house (3 bedroom) cosy and warm. My heating bills are also lower even though I'm getting older and have the thermostat set higher ☺☺☺
