I have my late Dad's kilt and was thinking of re-upholstering a footstool he made for me years ago.

Any tips on how to protect the cloth? Should I spray it with Scotch Guard?

Any other advice about upholstering would be gratefully received!

Thats a good idea 2sp I can't think of any other fabric protection, it will stop stains and spills. Are you planning to use braid and brass headed tacks around the sides to secure the tartan to the footstool?

It's currently got braid and tacks round it so was just going to do the same.

I've got yards of tartan, so looking for other ideas too!

I've just had a clock made with some of it, it's really lovely. Teddys might be an idea for my daughters though.
