My mum (god rest her) wouldn't have them in the house - bad luck apparently?

I thought you had them "in during the day and out at night" to reduce the smell - but can't see how that works.

Lillies smell just gorgeous - if you don't happen to like the smell, why did you buy them?!

My mum doesn't like them either
She says they remind her of a funeral parlour.
They beautiful just too scented
I'm getting roses next time
Mind you they were only £3.50
You're probably thinking of Arum lillies Dave, they were a traditional funeral flower. Consequently they were deemed unlucky.

The popular stargazer lillies are powerfully scented and it can be overwhelming in a small room.

If you have a cat be sure to remove the stamens as the pollen is poisonous to them.
I think that some lilies do stink, like some hyacinths seem to.
what kind of lilies where they? Arum lilies(dead horse lily) are quite different to regal lilies which have a wonderful scent.

They're pink
Hyacinths are lovely
I put some in my office and everyone complimented them
I always have them over Christmas especially when I get rid of the tree as I miss the scent
Cut the middle bits out. The stamen and the other bit that will reduce the smell
Try a Voodoo Lilly - then you'll know what a stink is!!!!

If you have cats then keep them away, Lillies are deadly for cats!

I love the lillies from Aldi Ric, they have to be white though ... I love their perfume. I do cut the stamen out which always seems cruel, but the powdery brown stamen does stain things quite badly. I think they're a lovely classy flower. Aldi stock 'Sweet William' too which are another favourite of mine.
