Is anyone slightly concerned that their final destination is a one way ticket to the same place all the evil scum are? Take for instance the Middle East with all their evil hatred. Weather we are aware we are with them or have a perception of self we peniltimately will end up part of the same consciousness. Now for me this worries me.

I am not at all worried about breaking apart into constituent molecules. Whether burned or buried, I am simply turning back into part of the planet's make-up. Nice thought, very completing.
Yes, I am very scared that I would die before Peterborough United were promoted to the Premier league.
"Weather we are aware we are with them or have a perception of self we peniltimately will end up part of the same consciousnes"

Says who?

Sqads reason to be scared of dying is a far more reasonable cause for concern than the fact that, once dead, you "might" have to "share the same consciousness" as all the evil scum.
Would be very worried if the spirit (if we have one) goes on to a similar "world" to this! No escape from this world would be horrendous. Scared of how I die would be more appropriate I think.
that's a one way ticket then Sqad, besides i don't think there is anything beyond what we have on earth, and that can be hell as it is
I'm scared that the vultures who pass for my family will descend to cast a beady eye over the potential pickings. Being surrounded by people that I don't much like would make a stressful time even more so. (They're in for an unpleasant surprise, it's all going to charity)
Fair play to you, Sandy...

I'm scared of dying. I'm scared of other people dying.
Don't worry about it, Uka. After dying, you ain't going anywhere!
and you meet all your skool bullies in the great train hall that is the next life ?

Oh dear
Only the Theists need to worry they have all been working on the sabbath, which is a problem as it can start from noon on Friday to sunrise on Sunday depending on which branch of weirdness you belong to.

For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death.
Exodus 31:15 (NIV)
Happily for me I have not been indoctrinated into any form of superstition involving life after death, gods, demons, spirits etc. Lack of any credible proof for any of it will do that for you if you are trained in the philosophy of science.

So for me no, I am not frightened of death. You could say it's the best night's dreamless sleep you'll ever have, and better still, the alarm clock never goes off.

However it is perfectly rational to be very frightened about the manner of your death and I am no exception.
I'd rather not be there when it happens....
Or, as Brendan Behan said, 'I'd rather be dead than think about dying'.

For me, no, for my nearest and dearest yes.
//we peniltimately[?] will end up part of the same consciousness.//

Why? Who says so?

If it's going to be unpleasant I don't relish the journey to the end of life, but no, I'm not scared of dying.

When my son was young I was afraid of dying but only because of what would happen to him. Now at the age of 63 I'm afraid because of what would happen to Mic. For myself no I'm not afraid, I just hope it is painless.
I have actually been thinking about this today, don't know why. I have decided I do not want to die, but I know I will at some point. I love my life, my family and everything and I don't want to go into obscurity. I don't know if there is any sort of life after death, perhaps not, but I don't want to find out either way.
I can't remember who it was who first said that "I'm not afraid of dying, I just don't want to be there when it happens." Still, that pretty much sums it up for me I think.

I'd like to hope that in the event that there is after all a God then he's going to rate people based on their deeds rather than on their beliefs. Probably a fat chance, that, but hey, I've made my choice and I'm not going to un-make it based on a fear that I think to be unfounded.
That wonderful, immersive feeling of being conscious, alive, aware of raindrops dripping off trees, light scattering amid their branches, of the sound of birds, children playing and, coming out of the woods- a bloody great wind turbine right there in your face!

Yes we would all miss the bitter-sweet experience of being alive save for the fact that brain death makes missing anything impossible.

So in your own perception there is no loss. That, sadly cannot be said for those who have dignified our existence with their love and friendship. Suicide then can sometimes be the most wicked thing you can do to others, even when in the moment you might think you're doing them all a favour.
