Moving A Woodburner

I have a woodburner in my upstairs bedroom which I want to move downstairs into the TV room. I assume the chimney has been 'sleeved' from my bedroom up but the connecting part from downstairs up to where the woodburner was originally installed has not - therefore will need to be lined too (it's one chimney - my bedroom is directly above the TV room.) Does this have to be done by a specialist and be signed off or can my builder do it for me.? Many thanks in advance.

It's an easy job for a builder, but with all today's regulations, it should be done by a HETAS registered installer. This being a public site, I have to tell you that.

The flues won't be "shared". The downstairs one will run alongside the upstairs one. It may not need lining if it's a clay flue. An installer would check it out for you.

Thank you for that The Builder - I had a feeling that was the case. I appreciate your answer as I imagine the house insure would be invalidated in the event of a chimney fire. Stay well.
