After decades of all the parties being scared to utter a word about immigration at last we now have a party leader who is willing to talk about it.

"Curbs on non-EU immigration will be a key priority for an incoming Labour government", said Ed Miliband on the BBC's Andrew Marr show.

There are those of us on AB who have been shouting this for years.

Low skilled immigrants, who cant speak English, don't want to integrate, and are happy to milk the benefit system for all its worth. Many of them offer nothing to this country.

There are areas of Birmingham near where I live (Sparkhill and Small Heath for example) that are virtually 100% Asian. They have been turned from poor but fairly nice suburbs of Birmingham into sh*t holes in the last 30 years as the Asians have arrived the whites have left.

If any of you went through these areas you may believe you have wandered into Pakistan or a suburb of Calcutta, with the rubbish everywhere. 30% of cars in these areas are not insured.

I find it so upsetting to drive through these areas I find other ways to drive into central Birmingham, even though one area is on a direct route into the city for me.

Hopefully all the parties will at last realise the damage unrestricted immigration has done and will start to discuss it as part of their policies.

Talk is cheap vhg, it was Labour who opened the doors in the first place
Birmingham has always been the u-bend of England.

You look at people with different skin tones to you and you look down on them. You know nothing of their lives, you know nothing about them...all you see is that they are different to you.

When you drive through poor white areas, do you think the same? Because believe me, scumbaggery is not race-specific.

I hope and pray that you follow through and refuse treatment from any non-white NHS worker in years to come, because believe me - some of those tha cause you so much pain are the very same people who will be looking after you in your dotage.
It was people like you that made my mother's life pretty difficult in the 70s.

It is very difficult to summarise what I feel about people like you.

Really difficult.
Coming from a Labour politician, the words door, horse, and bolted spring to mind. Miliband thinks he’s making the right noises. I wouldn’t trust him an inch.

SP, this is about culture …. not colour. ;o)
It infuriates me when...

You know what? No...I'm going to leave it otherwise I'm going to get answers removed.
horrified as I am to learn that there is rubbish on the streets of Birmingham, I can't help wondering why the council isn't collecting it. This is what happens in many parts of the country, including mine. Does the Birmingham council only clear up white people's rubbish? Is this a "cultural" thing?
I know two more areas which are the u turn back towards Birmingham. How about trying Manchester, or Liverpool, they alongside London are the gun crime areas of the UK .Every time some one is murdered with a gun ,it has happened in one of these areas. Where do you live sp1814???.
I only see Asians mentioned. As I said, this is about culture – not colour.
an ability to reduce immigration, from wherever originating, is entirely dependent on an ability to reform the world's biggest ponzie which is the pension system. the current level of pension payments is already bordering on the unsustainable - there's no possibility of growth without continued immigration, since there's no-one else available to prop it up.
I'm very confused. Pakistan and Calcutta are not part of the EU. Sounds like a bit of a xenophobic rant to me, confusing immigration from the EU with immigration from Asia and then lumping the majority as benefit fraudsters
hawksley

London.

too late, as naomi said door, stable, horse, and stop putting a colour slant on it, they are coming from every place, those who get in illegally can disappear into the big cities.
"and stop putting a colour slant on it"

why, its destroying our nations identity..or like some on here does that not bother you !?

its a blight thats slowy but surely destroying this country, its just a case of who will destroy it first them or the eussr

funny how you always hear other people going on about how proud they are of their country and their identity

So why cant we ?

The muppet leader, CEO or whatever he was of Newham "We have 18% white british in the borough"

then has the cheek to say its a diverse borough as if its something to be pleased about...really I bet the few whites that are left are dead pleased that the area has been turned into a schitthole.

how long before that 18% is 10% ?

Ugh Liverpool was a dirty as hell when Degsy was 'in charge'

but I thought the litterers were white trash..... [pun intended]

VHG should perhaps be standing for public office
altho I stand shoulder to shoulder with VHG if he says: when it comes down to a freebie for councillor to Vanuatu or wherever and clean streets,

I will always opt for clean streets.....

I mean this is a sluts' thread really, innit ?

The immigration problem is not skin colour specific.

It needs to be tackled one way or another.

The reason many cite the asians is because many tend not to want to fit in. In my experience Africas and many other nationalities do.

People are NOT racist because they want to discuss it. The best way to stop the problems is to get it out intot he open.
SP's point still stands, irrespective of his mention of colour. The exact same point still stands if you substitute the word culture. The OP is incredibly happy to pass judgement on people he does not know because they are different from him. I also share SP's expectation that should he ever need help (god forbid), he has the integrity to refuse treatment from any of "them" who are on hand.
And besides this is largely empty rhetoric from Miliband - I have numerous colleages and friends who have tried to get into the UK from outside the EU, and the simple fact is that for non-EU migration our present day system is quite rigorous. I'm willing to bet many of the "Asians" VHG is so upset by were born in the country after waves of immigration decades ago.

I'm sure New Judge will be along to point this out eventually, but Miliband has said absolutely nothing about EU migration - which is the area over which the government has the least control. So in effect Miliband has promised no change whatsoever to the immigration system.
Enoch Powell as Health Minister opened the door to immigration from the Commonwealth Countries. There were vacancies that the NHS could not fill so they advertised the jobs in the caribbean and Asian sub continent. It was very successful, hundreds of thousands came.

The majority of Asians that you see now in Small Heath will be second or third generation born here, their Grandparents having taken up Enoch's generous offer.
