I have a small 3 bed semi and would like the living room and two bedrooms at least to be air conditioned, I don't know if I'd need a unit in each room. I know nothing at all about air con, in fact.

Anybody know how much such an installation would cost - very loosely?

Each unit will have the internal component which obviously blows cold air, and an eternal condenser which will be about 3' sq by 1' deep, so you need to think how they will make the house look. They can be sited remotely but there is a limit I.e. they could be grouped together. You may need planning permission if your property is listed or you live in a conservation area. As for cost, I would estimate around £3k for what you want but you need to think about running costs also.

Thanks, Zacs, I was imagining the 3 internal units could be linked to one external unit. (Like central heating boiler to multiple radiators).

We have a single room conditioner (the sort with a pipe that hangs out of a window) I have sorted the pipe seal to keep the hot air out and this cools the whole house eventually ....
It was £50 off Ebay.
We did look at getting aircon fitted and the quotes were around the £1800 to £2200 area.
for each fitted unit...
