Central Heating Thermostat Setting

Over a pint at lunch time I casually mentioned that I might increase my thermostat setting from 19C. Everyone around the table looked at me in disbelief and announced their temps which were between 14-18C. I was really rather surprised at this as I didn't think I was being particularly profligate with my heating.

What is your central heating thermostat set to?

20°C. Trish feels the cold more the then me,I'd have it between 16-18°C

18-20 Eccles....though no heat today...cooling down after daughter's visit. She's taking beta blockers and feels the cold. 19 isn't overly high,surely?

Between 15C and 20C, I don't often have it on though. I don't do it for the money but central heating tends to give me a migraine. I'd rather stick another jumper on if I'm cold!

I was surprised because 15C is my default setting when I go away!

I suppose I should get a willing victim in as a visitor and watch to see if they are shivering!

I have just checked, as my place has felt particularly hot over the past two days. Some fecker has set it to 30!

Well if I have me heating set at a lower temp than someone called frugalfred I can't be going far wrong!

21 Eccles.......... but don't forget, it'll depend on the settings on your rad valves as well.

Occupied rooms are set to max, infrequently used rooms are set midway and rarely used rooms are set to frost setting. All doors are left ajar.

If this isn't good practice I welcome informed input.

20C and when I get up in the morning I turn it way up to 25C there is no way I am going to be cold while I am showering. My son-in-law always grumbles at the heat but it is just about right for me. Oh, I forgot. I turn it down to 10C when I go to bed.

Only one little niggle, Eccles. Frost setting is OK if you have no condensation problems in those rooms. With doors ajar, I guess they're picking up heat from adjoining rooms.
You would have better "zoning" control if the rad valves are set individually, but no problem if it works for you. It's all a matter of experimentation. Every situation is different. :o)
