Liquid in my Fridge

This may prove to be a dumb question but they are the only ones I do.

I have a fridge thats built into the kitchen units (there's no freezer part to it). At the bottom it's got a sort of trough that the salad tray sits in. I opened the door yesterday but couldn't close it again because something was in the way. Realised the salad tray was not sitting flat in the trough and when I picked it up the trough was about 2inch deep with a clear liquid. It didn't smell like anything to me but I have a terrible sense of smell. Nothing had leaked so what would it be and how the hell do I get the water out of that bit?

my integrated fridge does that, i usually just keep the level down by sponging it out but you'll ahve to lift the white deep tray out first to get to it. i think it's condensation but i've never thought it was odd as it's done it for a while, they were fitted in 2006, B & Q indesit
old towels or t shirts...anything that soaks up water, have a bowl or bucket close by, plonk in, soak up, dump in bucket wring out repeat. It sounds like your drain hole is bunged up (oo er missus) There will be a hole somewhere that lets condensation run out of the fridge onto a pan that sits over the motor where it evaporates. Most fridges come with a pokey thing to unblock it other wise a kebab skewer, bit of twist tie wire or similar works, don't lose it down the hole.
Get that spanish fella round with his wettable and wringable and strong as bull. Perhaps your fridge had a build up of ice at the back due to the high humidity over the past few days and has now defrosted.
If it's a frost free fridge is there a little hole in the bottom at the very back (inside)?

I wondered if it might just be condensation as there was some on the back wall of the fridge but not a huge amount and it seemed like a lot to be in there from when I opened the fridge in the morning (and could still close the door).

Ah, I didn't notice if there was a hole in it but there was a bottle of wine stuffed at the back (wish I'd know that was there before). Maybe that was blocking some drainage.
It's just that in my fridge there was a hole at the back which I used to riddle every few weeks.....................apparently this was where the condensation drained (god knows where to)
use a towel,it might be soemhing in there sweating. we have a similar problem but its the drain hole for the cooling thingy blocking where it drains to the freezer

hhmm, might have to go to my dads house and steal some towels (all mine are new). Lol to something in there sweating, a poor student would feel bad looking at the contents (or lack of) in my fridge.

Must be a hole somewhere that I didn't spot. Will have a look later and give it a poke. Thanks.
Yes, there is a drain hole at the lowest point.

If you haven't got a pipe cleaner, poke it with a drinking straw.
clear the hole in the trough at the back as suggested by hopkirk it drains into a plastic tub at the bottom rear of fridge which has an element in from the condenser which evaporates and liquid that accumulates
This is normal for a frost-free fridge. Water vapour in the body of the fridge condenses onto the back wall (that's the part that gets cold) and freezes. This warms up slightly when the compressor is not operative and the ice thaws and drains down into a channel - which should be kept clear of obstructions (otherwise you could get a mini-flood) and drains away. As mentioned above, drain-hole should be kept clear too.
There, who knew that fridges could be so interesting? Not.
good god I've been putting up with this emptying routine for 4 years! there was a little red plastic thing in the fridge when we got it, it's long gone, now i realise what it was for, when we moved in 2008 the integrated fridge came with us and we got a new door, now we've moved again i've brought it with me here as I wasn't going to buy a new fridge, just used a green plastic garden cane tie to clear the little hole at the back, tut, i should have read the destructions...
