Ive had a UPVC front door for about 7-8 years. It's great, apart from when it rains (most days) a small dribble of brownish 'stuff' seems to come out of the bottom moulding. I have over the years blamed the cat and cleaned it off, repeatedly - but it isn't the cats and doesn't whiff. Sorry cats. The door seems fine in every other respect - has anyone any idea what this is and why a UPVC door might weep tears of gravy?
when you open the door is there little holes/openings in the frame? if there is thet could be blocked with dirt I had a similar thing a few weeks ago and those opening were just block. i cleared them out with a cocktail stick and now it is fine. Apparently these are drain holes which drain the water to outside
Further to @mumstheword, after cleaning the drain holes (top and bottom) a good flush with a cold-water jet wash from the top and bottom should clear the immediate problem. There should not be anything in a UPVC front door which will rust but there are some moving parts which benefit from periodic lubrication. Try speaking to the manufacturers or installers about maintenance. Mine need lubrication of the moving parts once a year (I squirt silicon-based lubricant through the holes at the top). Same applies to the UPVC windows. Yours may well be different.
Thanks folks - any hope via the installers is useless as they are useless. As I mentioned above, it took all my energy to get them to finish off the damage to my exterior walls, and they never fixed the broken window sill.
That's Ultraframe folks - avoid like a dose of plague.
